Seize the Film – Cinema Accessible to All

For five years, Digitas 24 has been making film art accessible to blind and visually impaired audiences. Through our collaboration with the Seize the Film festival, we break down sensory barriers and ensure everyone can enjoy cultural content equally.

The Challenge

Film is primarily a visual medium. Without adaptation, blind and visually impaired people miss key plot details, facial expressions, and atmosphere. Additionally, many cultural venues are physically inaccessible, leaving audiences with disabilities outside the cinema doors.

Our Approach

Our role in the festival is to provide expert and technical support to make films understandable to everyone. The Digitas 24 team actively works on content adaptation through:

  • Creating Audio Descriptions: We write detailed scripts that describe visual scenes, facial expressions, and atmosphere in the pauses between dialogue.

  • Expert Consultations: We participate in the film synchronization process to ensure the narration is natural and synced with the action, providing blind viewers with a complete experience.

  • Holistic Support: As a proud collaborator of the KAO Parnas organization, we contribute to ensuring the festival maintains its continuity of inclusiveness every year.

Results and Impact

Thanks to our long-standing collaboration, the Seize the Film festival has become synonymous with culture without barriers:

  • Full Content Accessibility: All screened films are described (audio description), synchronized, and subtitled, making them accessible to persons with visual and hearing impairments.

  • Inclusive Space and Communication: Throughout the festival, a Sign Language interpreter is provided, and all venues at the Cultural Center of Novi Sad are wheelchair accessible.

  • Proven Sustainability: For the fifth consecutive year, we are proving that with expert work and dedication, art can and must be accessible to everyone.
